Mobius is very proud to congratulate our own Benji Thurber, who recently was honored with a Governor’s Award for Outstanding Community Service.  These prestigious awards honor individuals groups, and businesses that best exemplify the spirit of volunteerism and community service in Vermont.  The awards were presented recently at the State House in Montpelier.

Benji is on our staff as an Americorps VISTA member.  His specific award was for National Service, which recognizes an individual member and/or group of members of a National Service program including AmeriCorps State, AmeriCorps National, and AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps NCCC, Senior Service Corps (RSVP, Foster Grandparents, and Senior Companion) who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service above and beyond the requirements of the designated program.”

Benji was nominated by the Vermont Youth Tomorrow VISTA Program office,  for his hard work with mentors, especially his outreach and public relations efforts.  Also in their nomination of Benji, they recognized his prominent role during National Mentoring Month and his work on promotions for mentors and their mentees.

Congratulations Benji!
