Dine Out for National Mentoring Month!
January 9, 2015 National Mentoring Month
Karyn Norwood and James Thurber were two of the more than 300 diners who came out for American Flatbread’s sixth annual Benefit Bake for Mentoring.
Eating delicious food and supporting mentoring at the same time—how can you go wrong? As a part of National Mentoring Month festivities here in Vermont, restaurants across the state are hosting benefit dinners to support mentoring in their communities.
American Flatbread (Burlington Hearth) kicked things off by hosting Mobius for the sixth annual Benefit Bake for Mentoring on Tuesday, January 6. Flatbread donated a portion of the proceeds for each flatbread sold throughout the night, and Mobius staff were on hand to share mentoring news and opportunities with the more than 300 diners who attended. Winooski resident Madison King took home Mobius’ raffle prize, a $75 cheese gift pack from Cabot Creamery Cooperative. In total, the event raised nearly $450 for mentoring!

We encourage community-based mentors who couldn’t make it out on Tuesday to visit Flatbread throughout the year. If you bring your mentee, and your Mobius Mentor Discount Card, you’ll receive a 50 percent discount on your meal.
Looking for a mentoring benefit at a restaurant in your community? Visit the Redstone Mentoring Events Calendar for more information about benefit dinners and other mentoring events throughout National Mentoring Month.
Here is a sampling of some other restaurant benefit nights coming up later this month:
On Tuesday, January 13, Sarducci’s (3 Main Street, Montpelier) is hosting a benefit night for Girls/Boys First Mentoring. Sarducci’s will donate a percentage of all entrees sold to the mentoring program, and program staff will be on hand to provide information on how people can become mentors in Washington County.
Every Thursday in January, Positive Pie in Plainfield is donating a portion of the day’s sales to Twinfield Together Mentoring.
On Wednesday, January 14, Rainbow Sweets Bakery in Marshfield will be donating 50 percent of its sales to Twinfield Together.
Are you a part of a mentoring program that is hosting a benefit dinner, but isn’t listed above? Let us know and we’ll help you get the word out to our supporters across the state. Thank you to all of the generous businesses who are supporting mentoring programs during National Mentoring Month 2015!
