Thank You Benji!

September 30, 2021 Appreciation, MENTOR Vermont

At the end of September, Benji Thurber transitioned out of his role as communications director at MENTOR Vermont. I am filled with gratitude and appreciation for Benji and the immense impact he’s had on the organization. Benji has done so much for MENTOR Vermont and the Vermont youth mentoring community since he first joined the organization 12 years ago, back in 2009, as an AmeriCorps VISTA member.

For many of us, Benji has been a consistent source of support, guidance, and friendship over the years. For me personally, Benji has been these things and more – my co-pilot and sounding board since I joined MENTOR Vermont eight years ago. Benji’s passion, thoughtfulness and sense of humor permeated through his work and I am grateful for the many years we shared together at MENTOR Vermont. He pushed me and the organization to grow and improve, ensuring we do everything we can to better support programs, strengthen quality mentoring relationships and expand youth mentoring across the state.

Benji will be sorely missed by the mentoring field (especially me!), but it brings me comfort knowing that Benji will always remain an unwavering advocate of mentoring and the work that we do – no matter where his next adventure takes him.

I hope you will join me in wishing him well and in thanking him for his tremendous commitment to the mentoring movement.
